Something Interesting about Irene
I was born in Australia to Greek parents who have instilled a great work ethic in me but also a love for enjoying family and friends.
As a child I remember many a family get together where food, wine and music was always in abundance. Their hospitality has brushed off on me so I enjoy cooking for friends and sharing my Greek culture.
My first job out of school was as a Laboratory Assistant working under John Funder formerly from Prince Henry’s Medical Research Centre. I really enjoyed my time there, where I was involved in testing Breast Tumour samples. The researchers and colleagues were a bright and innovative group and their prime research was in Hormones and how they affect specific functions within the body. My greatest achievement was to get my name included on a research paper presented in “Nature”.
